Walking Through Quy Nhon’s Vietnam War History
Filmed: August 29, around 3 p.m. Route: Nguyễn Tất Thành Boulevard to Quy Nhon Port Quy Nhon is known as a coastal city, but during the Vietnam War it was also an area where South Korean troops were stationed and U.S. forces carried out supply operations. Nguyễn Tất Thành Boulevard, now a main street in the city center, follows the site of the former Quy Nhon Airfield runway. On my first day in Quy Nhon, I decided to walk this road and continue to the port to see what remains of those places today. Today, Nguyễn Tất Thành Boulevard is part of everyday city life. When I reached the port, fishing boats of different sizes filled the water. Some of the larger boats, loaded with equipment, looked as though they could travel far out to sea. It was a different sight from the small fishing boats I had seen in Mui Ne. I found no obvious military structures or wartime atmosphere along my walk.
