Atmosphere

Most visitors know Bui Vien Street for its nightlife, bars, and busy crowds. However, the surrounding streets offer a very different experience.

I started my walk on a Sunday evening before the nightlife became busy. Many tourists were looking for dinner, while local restaurants and street food stalls were already full of Vietnamese families and young people enjoying their evening.


As I left Bui Vien Street and walked toward the center of District 1, the atmosphere slowly changed. The loud music disappeared, and the streets became more relaxed. Along the way, I passed busy roads filled with motorbikes, modern office buildings, cafés, shopping areas, and local people going about their evening.



When I arrived at Nguyen Hue Walking Street, a light rain began to fall. Some people moved into cafés and shopping malls, while others continued their walk. The rain made the streets quieter than usual and gave the city a peaceful evening atmosphere.




My Thoughts

One of the best things about walking in Ho Chi Minh City is how quickly the city changes.

In about one hour, you can experience the energy of Bui Vien Street, the busy streets of District 1, and the open space around Nguyen Hue Walking Street and the Saigon Opera House. Each area has its own atmosphere, even though they are only a short walk apart.

During the rainy season, the cooler evening weather makes walking more comfortable. Instead of taking a taxi, walking through the city lets you see both famous landmarks and everyday life in Saigon.

This walk is a great choice for travelers who want to see more than just Bui Vien Street.

If you enjoy walking, this route offers a good mix of nightlife, local streets, modern city views, and popular landmarks. It is an easy and enjoyable way to discover another side of Ho Chi Minh City.

World Cup 2026 Night in Vietnam | Bui Vien Walking Street, Saigon

Before kickoff, the streets were already full of excitement. Groups of foreign visitors, many of them appearing to be from the UK and other European countries, gathered outside the bars. Some were singing, waving flags, and cheering for their team before the match even began. Almost every bar and restaurant had large screens showing the game. People stopped walking to watch the match, while others enjoyed drinks with friends. The whole street shared the same excitement.
