A Perfect Family Beach Escape Near Ho Chi Minh City: InterContinental Grand Ho Tram
A Perfect Family Beach Escape Near Ho Chi Minh City: InterContinental Grand Ho Tram
What is one of the best ways for families living in Ho Chi Minh City to enjoy a summer vacation in 2026?
There are several nearby beach destinations such as Vung Tau and Mui Ne, but this time my family decided to spend a relaxing 2-night, 3-day vacation in Ho Tram.
We booked a stay at InterContinental Grand Ho Tram, one of the most impressive large-scale beach resorts near Ho Chi Minh City.
Getting to Ho Tram by Free Shuttle Bus
One of the biggest advantages of staying at InterContinental Grand Ho Tram is the complimentary shuttle bus from Ho Chi Minh City.
We departed from the resort office in District 1. The shuttle was free, clean, comfortable, and surprisingly convenient.
After around three and a half hours, we arrived at the resort.
For travelers who do not want to drive or arrange private transportation, this free shuttle service makes a weekend trip to Ho Tram much easier.
A Huge Beach Resort Complex
The first thing that impressed me was the enormous scale of the resort.
The complex consists of two connected 5-star resort hotels, and guests can move freely between the two areas.
Each side has several swimming pools, approximately three to four pools, and we were able to use all of them.
The beach is also only a few steps away.
This means you can swim in the pool, walk down to the beach, enjoy the sea, and then return to another swimming pool whenever you want.
Swimming in a resort pool while looking directly toward the ocean created exactly the kind of peaceful tropical vacation atmosphere I was hoping for.
It is easily one of the most relaxing resort experiences I have had near Ho Chi Minh City.
Comfortable 5-Star Twin Room
We booked a twin-bed room.
The room was spacious, clean, comfortable, and exactly what I would expect from a 5-star hotel.
The bedding was especially comfortable, and the overall bedroom atmosphere felt calm and luxurious.
The room included everything we needed, including a refrigerator, television, hair dryer, iron, and other standard high-end hotel facilities.
The bathroom was one of my favorite parts of the room.
It was much larger than many other hotel bathrooms I have experienced, with the shower and toilet located in separate sections.
The bathtub was extremely clean, and there was plenty of hot water.
After spending time outside at the pool and beach, being able to relax in a hot bath was one of the small pleasures that made the stay even better.
Gym and Excellent Sauna Facilities
In the morning, I visited the fitness center.
There were plenty of useful machines, treadmills, dumbbells, and other equipment for a normal hotel workout.
But the sauna facilities were even more impressive.
Guests can use the sauna for free, and the facilities include a steam sauna, dry sauna, and even an infrared sauna.
The relaxation area also felt very luxurious and well maintained.
One small disadvantage is that the sauna opens at 10:00 AM.
For someone like me who prefers to exercise early in the morning and use the sauna before breakfast, this timing is a little inconvenient.
I would personally prefer an earlier opening time.
Breakfast Buffet
Breakfast had a wide range of choices.
There were Vietnamese dishes such as pho, Western-style breakfast food, Japanese dishes, salads, fruit, and a large bakery section.
The pho had a particularly clean and light flavor.
However, my personal favorite was the bakery section.
The bread and pastries were so good that I kept going back for more.
For a resort breakfast buffet, the variety and overall quality were very satisfying.
Almost Like a Small Shopping Mall
Another surprising part of the resort is the amount of entertainment and facilities available inside the complex.
It almost feels like a small shopping mall.
There are restaurants, cafes, a cinema, live bars, a casino, game areas, bowling, and many other entertainment options.
Because there is so much inside the resort, you could easily spend an entire weekend here without leaving the property.
That makes it especially convenient for families.
You can swim during the day, eat inside the resort, enjoy entertainment in the evening, and return to your room without needing additional transportation.
Is InterContinental Grand Ho Tram Worth It?
When we were heading back to Ho Chi Minh City, my family was already talking about coming back to Ho Tram again next summer.
That probably says everything about our experience.
Everyone enjoyed the trip.
What surprised me most was the price.
With a member discount, our room cost less than 2.5 million VND per night, which was under US$100 at the time of our stay.
Considering that the stay also included access to the swimming pools, gym, sauna, buffet breakfast, beach, and complimentary shuttle transportation from Ho Chi Minh City, I thought the overall value was excellent.
For office workers, couples, or families living in Ho Chi Minh City who simply want to escape the city and enjoy a comfortable weekend vacation, Ho Tram is incredibly convenient.
And for us, InterContinental Grand Ho Tram felt almost like a small tropical paradise just a few hours away from Saigon.
